I have always been drawn towards huge landscapes as well as capturing intimate moments within them. Life and Landscapes is a collection of photographs celebrating some of my favourite people in some of my most cherished places.
Rock climbing has been part of my life for almost a decade. On the Rocks is a collection of photographs exploring the places climbing can take us, the adventure it adds to our lives and the weird and wonderful shapes it forces our bodies into.
In summer 2011 I was approached by The Climbing Academy Glasgow to document the construction of the UK’s largest indoor bouldering centre. That July I started my weekly visits to the site, following its progress from a warehouse full of scaffolding to a fully functioning, exceptionally large indoor rock climbing centre, using both photography and video along the way. Here is a selection of images from the build. To watch the videos, check out my Vimeo page.
As a former writer and editor at Glasgow-based educational filmmakers Twig, I was asked to photograph the filmmaking process there from start to finish, as well some key figures within the company. My aim for the project was not only to capture the process at Twig but the lively atmosphere among those who work there and the reception of the finished product as well. Below is a small selection from the resulting series of images.
Below is a selection of pages taken from articles I have shot and written for Climb and Climber magazine.
